About Oral Health Month 2014:
As the world leader in Oral Care, Colgate has always been at the forefront of initiatives that improve the oral health condition. With an objective to increase Oral Care awareness, Colgate-Palmolive spearheaded Oral Health Month (OHM), an annual initiative dedicated to spreading oral health and hygiene awareness throughout the world. Since its inception in 1998, the initiative has successfully reached out to millions of people across countries.
The oral health condition among Indians is worse than other countries. A survey, recently conducted by IMRB International for Colgate-Palmolive (India) Limited reveals the following:
- A mere 2.5% Indians visit a dentist at least once a year compared to a global average of 48%
- 67% Indians have never considered a dental check-up
- 30% of the Indian population consults a dentist only if they believe they have a dental problem
- Out of those that do finally seek treatment for their dental problems, 1 in 3 have to get tooth extractions as generally it is too late to do anything else
In India, Colgate-Palmolive in partnership with Indian Dental Association (IDA) has been conducting Oral Health Month since 2004 covering a wide spectrum of activities designed to spread oral health awareness and good oral hygiene practices.
Oral Health Month has grown phenomenally in the past ten years and has emerged as a leading campaign for promoting oral health awareness in India. Owing to its success, since 2009 Colgate-Palmolive earmarked two months instead of the traditional one month, dedicated to spreading the message of oral health and hygiene. In 2012, October and November, the mission of this program was ‘Mission Zero Cavity’. Taking this initiative forward, in its tenth year in 2013, Oral Health Month will focus on the mission to achieve a Healthy Mouth.
In the year 2013, Oral Health month was spread across 1200 towns with a total of 30,000 dentists participating in the program. The two-month long oral care awareness drive covered in-clinic free dental check-ups, school contact program, free dental check-ups in mobile dental vans, retailers outreach program and many more such activities to engage 5 million consumers.

- To avail the free dental checkup:
Give a missed call on 18004197575. You will then receive a call back where the IVR (Interactive Voice Response) will direct you to enter your pincode.
Mobile Users: If you are calling from a mobile phone, you will receive an SMS with details of atleast 2 dentists in or around pincode provided by you, if available. If there is no dentist offering the free check-ups in or around your pin code area then you will receive a regret SMS.
Landline Users: If you are calling from a landline, then the details of at least 2 dentists in or around pin code provided by you will be read out on the call. If there is no dentist offering the free check-ups in or around your pin code area then you will be told so on the call. You also have an option of entering a valid mobile number and receiving the aforesaid details through an SMS. - Standard terms and conditions on SMS and calls apply.
- You can also enter your pincode in the searchbox on www.oralhealthmonth.co.in to get the details of at least 2 dentists in the vicinity of your pin code area, if available.
- Please contact the dentist for appointment to avail the free dental check-up. Colgate is not responsible for getting the appointment with the Dentists.
- For any assistance / clarification a toll-free number – 1800225599 will be available to you in case of any queries or concerns. The number will be available from 9:00am-6:00pm, Monday to Friday, between October 1st 2014 and November 30th 2014.
- Please note that Colgate is facilitating in providing a free dental checkup only, provided a Dentist participating in OHM program is available in the vicinity of your pin code area.
- Colgate assumes no responsibility for the services of the dentists during free dental checkup. Colgate shall not be liable for any cost or consequences for any additional treatment / procedure availed by any person on his / her own volition or on advice of the Dentists. Colgate does not subscribe to any opinion / suggestion given by the participating Dentists in their Independent professional capacity.
- Colgate is not liable for any lack of or deficiency in service provided by the Dentists.
- Free dental check-up is for a limited period and can be availed only between October 1st 2014 and November 30th 2014.
